Beginning in the sixth grade, all students at St. Andrew’s
are invited to be part of our Tennis Program. Tennis is a spring sport and St.
Andrew’s tennis players practice at the Amarillo National Tennis Center at John
Stiff Park (4800 Bell Street).
“Tennis is more of an individual sport,” says Athletic
Director, Rance Barnett. “We play both singles and doubles and have varying
levels of proficiency. Some of our players come to us as beginners, others have
been playing for years and are quite advanced.”
St. Andrew’s is a member of the West Texas Christian
Athletics Association – a league that currently consists of ten teams located
in Amarillo, Plainview and Lubbock. In addition, SAES often competes with other
public schools in Amarillo and the Panhandle area.
In past years, many of our individual tennis players have
been named WTCAA champions. We welcome tennis players of all levels and work
with each individual whether they be a beginner or an advanced player.
Many of our students have gone on the play tennis at Tascosa
and Amarillo High Schools.
