ABOUT

Welcome

Welcome to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School!

As you explore our website, you’ll discover a vibrant community where spiritual growth, academic challenge, artistic expression, and athletic involvement create a dynamic environment for young learners. Our dedicated faculty and staff bring a challenging curriculum to life with enthusiasm and heart, helping each student grow in both skill and confidence.

For over 70 years, St. Andrew’s has been a place where students are equipped to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Our hallmark is a close-knit, inclusive community where families of diverse backgrounds and perspectives come together to build lifelong friendships. This unique 11-year journey, from Early Childhood through 8th grade, fosters connections that endure across generations of students, parents, and friends.

Founded in 1951 by parishioners of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, the School retains a special connection with the Church through weekly chapel and shared community events. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition, we uphold the value of “respect for the dignity of every human being,” guiding our emphasis on service, compassion, and leadership at every grade level.

I invite you to visit our campus, tour classrooms, and speak with our teachers and staff as you explore the possibilities for your child’s education. And I welcome the opportunity to visit with you about the magic of an Early Childhood-8th grade education!

Blessings,

Jessica Leibowitz Morris | Head of School

Mission

St. Andrew’s grounds our values in the Christian faith. This calls us to “seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves” while respecting the dignity of all human beings. A sense of belonging is essential to a climate of learning and serves as the optimal mode of preparation for our students’ futures. We strive to act with compassion, love, and integrity as that stands in contrast to exclusion, intolerance, and mistrust.

St. Andrew’s is a place where people from all different types of perspectives and traditions show up and engage in the joyful process of learning. This is what we love to do, learn together. And this is what we were created to do by God.

Motto

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School: Joyfully Worship, Learn, Create, and Serve Together

Mission Statement

St. Andrew’s joyfully cultivates life-long learners in a community that embraces inquiry and curiosity, a love of God, and service to others.

Episcopal Identity

Why is faith so important at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School?

Being an Episcopal school is at the core of who we are as a community. Our faith is not just found in our chapel or religion classes but can be seen in the hallways, in school activities, and in the community. Our faith shapes and forms us. Our faith inspires us when we are challenged, comforts us when life is difficult, and confirms our worth. The most important lesson we want students to learn from our faith life here is that God made them and God loves them!

How does the diversity of our students’ faith backgrounds play a role at St. Andrew’s?

Although all students attend our chapel services and religion classes, we cultivate understanding, connections, and respect for children and families who have different beliefs. We can all learn from one another about our different traditions. It is through understanding each other better that we’ll build a more peaceful world. St. Andrew’s is not here to proselytize children. Part of our faith commitment is to love and support each child, regardless of their religious affiliation. Every day our teachers and staff encourage, support, and challenge our students to be the people that God created them to be.

Faith Formation

In the classroom setting, our students engage in hands-on, experiential explorations of faith. Our school Chaplain visits the classrooms of all Primer, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students, where, through storytelling, singing, and play, they discover foundational narratives from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. Through games, art, and the reading of scripture, First- through Fifth-grade students explore how they can grow in Christ-like virtues such as love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness. Sixth- and Seventh-grade students journey through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to read the stories of Jesus and explore the culture and world of that time. Eighth graders live out the admonition from the Book of James to express our faith in our actions, not just our words, and explore servant leadership in the community. All students explore scripture, biblical geography, sacred history, and liturgy in an environment welcoming to all faiths and respectful of individual family traditions.

Chapel Program

Our student body gathers for chapel every week and for other special services throughout the year. First-grade through Eighth-grade students come together in the beautiful nave of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church twice a week for morning prayer and once a month for a Eucharist service. Primer, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students gather in the Assembly Hall once a week for a chapel service designed just for them. Families are always welcome to join us for chapel. Throughout the year, we will also gather for a Grandparents and Special Friends Chapel Service before Thanksgiving, a Lessons and Carols service before Christmas, and several services during Holy Week. These services provide hallmark experiences for our entire community. For more information about the weekly services and ministries at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church visit, https://www.standrewsamarillo.org.

Service

Our service learning program at St. Andrew’s School develops well-educated, responsible, and compassionate individuals who make a difference in their communities, whether those communities are their school, their city, or their world. By serving others, our students develop a sense of social consciousness and empathy at an early age. We want our students to be able to recognize a need when they see one and to have the confidence, problem-solving skills, and compassion to help meet that need.

We are confident that our students will be leaders in their worlds – understanding that service to others makes the world a better place for all of us.

  6. Prioritize long-term stability by proactively managing financial resources and reserves, allowing St. Andrew’s to navigate economic fluctuations and future challenges with confidence.

  7. Provide sustainable financial aid and tuition remission programs to make a St. Andrew’s education accessible to a broad and diverse group of families while ensuring financial sustainability.

Traditions

At St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, we take pride in our kind and servant-minded school culture; much of this is guided by the traditions we practice each year as a community. During your child’s years at St. Andrew’s, they will have opportunities to engage in these traditions individually and with their peers—creating memories they will cherish forever.

  • Primer-Kindergarten students attend Chapel once a week with music, bible stories, and lessons. Students in 1st-8th grade have Chapel every Wednesday and Morning Prayer every Thursday. Eucharist Chapel is on the first Wednesday of each month, and we have special services throughout the year.

  • In this time-honored event, St. Andrew’s alumni who are graduating high school are welcomed back for this Eucharist. They receive a blessing as they cross this important threshold as young adults.

  • Families are encouraged to bring their pets to be blessed in honor of St. Francis. Dogs, cats, horses, goats, snakes, hamsters, lizards, frogs, and even cockroaches have received the blessings of this day.

  • In this beloved event, we welcome our students’ friends, grandparents, and other relatives to visit our campus for a special chapel service that showcases all of the students.

  • Honored throughout the year, students who are celebrating birthdays receive a special blessing surrounded by their family members, teachers, and friends.

  • Following the liturgical calendar, all community members are welcome to attend this signature event which kicks off the Lenten season.

  • We honor the paschal mystery with the Procession of the Palms and the Maundy Thursday service. Easter is celebrated the first Eucharist after Easter Sunday.

  • In the Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols, we all gather together for this century-old, traditional church service of song, scripture, and light.

Careers

Great schools are not defined by their brick and mortar, and they are built by teachers who are masters of their craft and who know that transformative learning starts with knowing and loving students. We provide careers for professional educators who understand the opportunity and the responsibility of the autonomy with which we entrust our faculty, the mastery with which we hold ourselves accountable, and the purpose by which we collectively galvanize our efforts. Just as we provide opportunities for our students to strive together, we ask our faculty to do the same. Not limited by mandated curriculum or onerous testing requirements, we ask our faculty to design learning environments that are distinctive…that cannot be experienced anywhere else. To do so, we ask faculty to be bold and flexible in their thinking.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School believes that each individual is entitled to equal employment opportunity without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, military service, sexual orientation, veteran or military status, pregnancy, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state, or local anti-discrimination laws. St. Andrew’s Episcopal School’s equal employment opportunity practices extend to recruitment, hiring, selection, compensation, benefits, transfer, promotion, training, discipline, and all other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment.
